How to chose the right mascara?

Mascara is such a basic item in everyone’s makeup bag, but how do you actually find the right one for you? Here is a short guide.

Eyelash types

The easiest way to find the perfect mascara for you is to define what your lash type is. That way, you will know what you need to do, to enhance your lashes. Here are all the lash types:

Mascara for short lashes

The best way to enhance your short lashes is to use a mascara with thick bristles. That way, you can evenly apply a big amount of product, and coat the lashes so they appear longer.

My recommendations are Maybelline Lash Sensational, that adds a bit of the curve as well, or the Maybelline Collosal Big Shot.

Mascara for sparse lashes

If you’re not naturally blessed with thick and luscious eyelashes, fear not. The best way to add some volume and length to your eyelashes is to choose a mascara with thickening fibers. That will give the illusion of bigger and thicker lashes.

My recommendations are the Catrice Glam & Doll False Lashes or the famous L’oreal Lash Paradise with more than 200 fibers.

Mascara for straight lashes

Not all lashes are nice and curled, some are a bit more stubborn. To get them to stay up all night, make sure to use a lash curler. Another trick to try is the k-beauty hack by using a wooden stick, lighting it on fire, putting it out and then curling the lashes with the heated wooden stick (be careful to not touch your eyes with the stick). Besides curling your lashes, make sure to choose a mascara with a curved wand, and lift the eyelashes with your fingers after applying it.

My recommendations are the Bourjois Mascara Volume Glamour Ultra-Curl or the Maybelline The Collosal Curl Bounce.

Mascara for long lashes

Being naturally blessed with long lashes is a big privilege, but you can also enhance them even more, by using the right mascara. You don’t want the mascara to weigh them down, so make sure to apply a light layer and focus on each individual lash.

My recommendations are the Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High or the Catrice Glam & Doll Volume.

Mascara for uneven lashes

If you have damaged lashes from your previous false lash appointments, then you have to look for nourishing mascaras. That way you will be able to heal lashes faster and still make them look good.

My recommendations is the L’oreal Lash Paradise that contains castor oil.
