Revolution Skincare Review – Hit or Miss?

Hi there lovelies! As you know from my previous posts, I’m a big skincare fan and I’m always trying something new. For the past month and a half I’ve been incorporating the Revolution Skincare products in my routine and trying a few of their products. Here’s my opinion!

Revolution Skincare

You may know the brand, Revolution from a different point of view. They became a well known makeup company that’s sold in drug stores at an affordable price. Now they also offer Skincare as a part of their products. I can’t talk about their skincare brand without addressing the obvious – the uncanny similarity between Revolution Skincare and The Ordinary. From similar packaging to ingredients, which is better? In my opinion, the brands offer mostly the same products, packaged and branded a bit differently. TO offers more isolated ingredients, while Revolution Skincare also sells some of the actives mixed with oils or some other additives. It might not be the best for those with sensitive, reactive skin because some products contain etheric oils etc. For me, they work amazingly – and they smell sooo good!

Revolution Skincare Glycolic Acid 5%

One of my favorite exfoliating products is glycolic acid. It’s a perfectly gentle way to get rid of any dead cells and make your skin glowy and plump. Before this one I used the TO version with 7% glycolic acid, which is a bit stronger, but after trying the Revolution one I, actually prefer it. The smell is incredible, very sterile smell of aloe vera if that makes sense. It also leaves my skin feeling super fresh, without drying it out or irritating it. I use it every other day, but this is one of those products you should start using once per week with a lower percentage and build your tolerance before fully incorporating it into your routine.

Glycolic acid does wonders for pores, skin texture and radiance of the skin. Make sure to use a sufficient amount of sunscreen tho, it exfoliates the upper layers of your skin so it’s more prone for sun damage.

Revolution Skincare Hydration Boost Gel Cream

This was a new addition to my skincare routine after I ran out of my old trusty Pyunkang Yul moisturizer. I wanted to try a cheaper option that’s lighter and more appropriate for spring/summer with my mixed skin.

The Revolution Skincare Hydration Boost Gel Cream is a lightweight water based moisturizer with a short ingredient list which is always a good sign. The main ingredients are Shorea Stenoptera Seed Butter, Vitamin E, Sodium Hyaluronate and Citric Acid.

I love it as a day cream, super easy to apply and it absorbs very quickly. Great to layer with sunscreen and makeup. My skin feels hydrated, but also fresh and not oily. I love this cream and I definitely recommend it as a day cream! Perfect for those with oily/mixed skin for spring/summer months.

Revolution Skincare 0.5% Retinol Super Serum with Rosehip Seed Oil

I’ve started using retinol about two years ago when my skin was in a really bad state after stopping with oral contraception. It improved my skin texture drastically and I’ve not stopped using it since! I started out with the lowest percantage, 0,1% and built it up to 0,5% slowly and carefully – while wearing loads of sunscreen!

Retinol is known as the anti-wrinkle active ingredient and is normally present in every fancy wrinkle cream. Using it on it’s own gives you more control over the usage and normally better and faster results. Plus – it’s much cheaper!

I use it in my evening routine, right before moisturizer. As mentioned, I’ve built my tolerance for the 0,5% slowly so make sure to start with a lower percentage if you’re a new user. I love this one from Revolution Skincare! It comes in a liquid formula with added rosehip oil which would normally be my next step after using it anyway so I love that these two come together. It softly moisturizes while doing it’s magic during nighttime.

Revolution Skincare Night Restore Oil

Next and the last product I have reviewed for you today is the Night Restore Oil. I’m a huge fan of oils, my skin always needs that extra something during the night, especially if I’m using actives.

This oil is a great mixture of my favorites – peach, lavender and rosa canina oil. The smell of this oil is incredible, the soothing lavender helps me calm down and fall asleep faster! I like to mix it with my night cream for extra nutrition. Definitely a great choice if you’re looking for a night oil.

Hit or miss?
