Hyaluronic acid has been a staple in my everyday skincare routine for a few years now, and it took me a while to find my favorite. I love this product so much, I already went through 10+ bottles. Let me tell you why it’s so amazing.
Hyaluronic Acid aka HA is a substance that is naturally present in the human body. The largest amounts are found in skin, connective tissue and eyes. The main function is to retain water and keep your tissues well lubricated and moist. The HA within our bodies holds a thousand times its weight in water to not only retain all that moisture in our skin and joints, but also prevent all that moisture from evaporating into the air.
If you’re a skincare lover you surely know of the importance and the benefits of HA in skincare. Hyaluronic acid can be found in serums and creams and can be used for any skin type. Because of its amazing capability to draw and hold water it can be used as a humectant in your skincare regimen. Hyaluronic acid is so powerful at pulling moisture to the surface of your skin, giving your skin a more dewy, younger appearance because it improves skin elasticity.
Vichy Mineral 89 is a worldwide bestseller in hyaluronic acid. Besides the pure hyaluronic acid it also contains Vichy volcanic water that is rich with minerals and deeply hydrates the skin. It has a pretty short ingredient list which is always a good sign, and it’s also hypoallergenic.
I love it because of it’s thick, gel-like texture, that absorbs into the skin really quickly and leaves it looking plump and glowy. I’ve tried many HA serums and they were all very runny, thin and didn’t absorb as nicely as this one. Vichy gifted it to me, back when I was still an influencer on IG, and I haven’t stopped purchasing it ever since.
I use the serum everyday, in my morning and evening skincare routine. I apply it right after washing my face (or after using a toner), on damp skin. It’s very important for your skin to be damp when you apply it. This way HA has some water to bind to and hold that hydration in your skin. Don’t forget to lock the moisture in by using a moisturiser or an oil + moisturiser mix in the winter (for combination and dry skin).
That’s all for this post, don’t forget to read more about skincare on my blog and come back for another post soon x
